Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and group counselling to students on academic, personal, social, behavioural, and career-related matters.
  • Support students in identifying their strengths, interests, abilities, and career aspirations.
  • Develop and implement student guidance and counselling programmes.
  • Assist students with academic planning, subject selection, study skills, and career development.
  • Identify students requiring additional support and make appropriate referrals where necessary.
  • Maintain confidential and accurate counselling records in accordance with professional standards.
  • Work closely with teachers, school management, and parents/guardians to support students' development.
  • Organise career guidance sessions, workshops, seminars, and student development programmes.
  • Support students experiencing academic, social, behavioural, or adjustment challenges.
  • Monitor students' progress and provide appropriate follow-up.
  • Promote positive mental wellbeing, responsible decision-making, discipline, and healthy interpersonal relationships.
  • Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality in all counselling activities.

    • Requirements & Qualifications

  • First degree in Guidance and Counselling, Counselling and Development Studies, Psychology, or Educational Psychology.
  • A postgraduate degree is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 3 years' relevant counselling experience, preferably within an educational institution.
  • Strong counselling, communication, interpersonal, and listening skills.
  • Good understanding of adolescent development and student welfare.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate sound professional judgement.
  • Strong organisational and record-keeping skills.
  • Professional counselling certification or membership of a recognised professional body is an advantage.
